The Internet has not only brought a world of opportunities for merchants and shoppers, but also the need for stronger security measures. As a consumer, you want to know that your online purchases are secure. But you also want the ordering process to be easy. As part of our ongoing plan to protect the interest of Credit Union cardholders, we have entered into a program called Verified by Visa that helps safeguard credit card numbers used for online purchases. With a Verified by Visa password, you can help ensure that only you can use your Visa card number to buy online. Here’s how it works:

First, you must register your card in the Verified by Visa network. To do this, click on the Verified by Visa link at the top of this page. You will then go to “Activate Now,” enter your card number (with no spaces or hyphens) and submit the information. You will then complete the brief request for personal information – including a password, secret question and personal assurance message request. (As part of the personal information, you will also be asked for a “Signature Panel Code.” For a visual example of where to locate this code on your Visa card, simply click the “?” icon next to this field.) Once the personal information is complete, click on ‘Register” and within a matter of seconds you will receive a Verified by Visa registration confirmation. You may also enroll in Verified by Visa when you check out at any participating merchant site.

Once your card is activated your card number will automatically be recognized whenever you make a purchase at participating online stores. Once your Visa card number is submitted when making a purchase, a window will appear asking for your Verified by Visa password. You will then enter your password in this window, your identity will be verified, and the transaction will be completed. In stores that are not yet participating in Verified by Visa, your Visa card will continue to work as usual.

We will also become a part of the MasterCard SecureCard network when the program becomes available.
